The secret is out...and it's F.A.B.U.L.O.U.S.!

I currently have my evenings to myself.  This is unfortunate for me.  This situation came to be when my sweet, darling man took a second shift job on a nearby police force.  Therefore, I am left with some time on my hands after the kids are in bed, the chores are done, and Im left to my own devices.  I have begun to pamper myself during my alone time, and have been experimenting with at-home spa treatment products.  Dermovia- Lace Your Face LaceTex ® Facial Mask  in Calming Chamomile for Sensitive Skin was part of my repertoire this week, and it such an amazing product, I had to share.

LaceTex ® is a delivery system which differs from all other products on the market.  It fits like shapewear for your face, contouring to the face allowing for complete coverage.  The mask is made of natural cotton stretch lace, with a unique ear and chin strap.  I loved that this mask stayed out and during the 15minutes of exposure, I had complete mobility without having to adjust the mask whatsoever.  I would advise using a mirror to apply, in order to be sure you have the perfect application, once perfectly applied, this mask stays put with no mess, no fuss.

Dermovia lace your face

The LaceTex ® mask is saturated completely with an amazing serum which contains some unique and beneficial ingredients.  Bali Sea Salt and Tahitian Sea Water help to balance and soothe the skin.  Chamomile Extract is also very soothing.  Apple Stem cells helps repair the skin, leaving dull, dry or stressed skin soothed and smoothed.  Dew Grass extract is an amazing natural anti-irritant.  After applying the mask, I felt an immediate cooling sensation, which lasted throughout the treatment.  I found this sensation to be extremely soothing.  I would love to use this product after a day in the sun, I can tell it would sooth and heal a sunburn in the most amazing way.

The use instructions boast the versatility of this product.  The mask can be warmed (might I suggest using you r blow-dryer on the unopened packet or running the unopened packet under warm water faucet).   Once warmed, pores will open, allowing for increased penetration of the wonderful serum.   This method of application would be immensely calming.

Brush up on your knowledge of flu season. Did you know that bacteria from the flu can live on your toothbrush? If you’ve been sick recently, the germs that got you sick are still on your brush, and could re-infect you or infect others who keep their brush near yours. Here are some easy tips from dentist, Dr. Seth Keiles, founder of toothbrush subscription service GoodMouth, for keeping your mouth and your body healthy during flu season.

  • Give it a taste. If food tastes odd or your mouth feels dry, it could be a sign that you’re about to get sick. Take Vitamin C, Echinacea, or even silver to stop a full-blown cold or flu.

  • Watch your mouth. Cold sores and canker sores are often a sign of a weakened immune system. If you see sores starting to form, it could mean you are susceptible to catching a cold or the flu.
  • Cover it up. If you do get sick, don’t cover your cough with your hands—doing so will spread germs to everything you touch. Instead, cough or sneeze into the crook of your elbow.

  • Rinse it away. Gargle and rinse with a non-alcohol mouthwash. It will lower the amount of bacteria in your mouth and decrease your chances of spreading germs when you cough.

  • Toss it out. Throw away your old toothbrush every time you or someone you live with gets sick. It harbors the same germs that got you sick in the first place, and can make you or others sick.

October has proven to be an eventful month. October is always a busy time, the fall schedule is in full swing. My mother has a birthday, one I MUST remember the date and celebrate, after all, if it weren’t for her, there would be no me. I crashed my car (Im ok, my poor SUV however, was not so lucky), and bought a new one (love my puurrrty new ride).

October is also, of course, Halloween. I enjoy Halloween because my children enjoy it. I never buy my girls costumes, and allow them to think of something, offering help when I can. This year was easy, the younger wants to be a spy (think black jacket, black pants, black boots), and the other a Game Warden (think tan/muddy green jacket and pants) with a North Woods Law badge replica. Costumes procured, the excitement just builds as people in my neighborhood dress their houses up with the same vigor most save for Christmas. Although instead of reindeer and colored lights, there are smoke machines, “dead bodies” , headstones, and in one instance Biohazard tape and Quarantine signs (in honor of Ebola, ugh).

Halloween is a fun time for most, from kids to adults. It is a tradition that has evolved throughout the years. With many scary and fun traditions from telling witch and ghost stories to filling up with candy and dressing up as your favorite scary character or super hero. My family throws an annual Halloween party which is tons of fun but I always have a hard time deciding what to be and what to buy to complete my look. I tried a few new products that I will be using this year and hopefully you will find helpful as well.

Freemahn beauty clay mask acai

To keep my skin looking amazing I will be using the Freeman Beauty Feeling Beautiful Acai Facial Purifying Clay Mask. This is a quick fix for dulling skin. This mask is formulated with 8 antioxidant blend of Acai, blueberry, cranberry, goji, mango, mangosteen, noni, and pomegranate…a lot of yummy fruit right :) But these ingredients will help neutralize environmental damage and brighten your skin. The clay also will help draw out impurities from the skin and clean out your pores. I love how this mask feels on my face and it smells wonderful. It doesn’t take much time either which is nice, all you do is apply and let it dry. Then rinse with warm water. With this mask you can get a refreshed look to your face and in a short time. Which is just what I will need on Friday, a little refresh before the halloween party gets started.

I am thrilled to have had to opportunity to take part in this process with American Laser Skincare utilizing their latest cutting edge Laser Technology: GentleMax Pro®

I’ve completed my 4th    laser treatment and as I mentioned in my prior review “I cannot believe the difference; and the lack of hair on my armpits”. I find this area much smoother with No stubble - No bumps - No rough patches and No ingrown hairs.

This process has been amazing. I’ve had my previous two treatments at American Laser Skincare at 37 Newbury St., Boston, Massachusetts.

The seemingly fun spirited modern day version of self-portraiture the “Selfie” appeared innocently on the social media scene but is now giving rise to concerns and discussion as to its overall societal effect.

The advent of Social Neuroscience with the use of brain imaging helps us to understand the components of the social brain, focusing on studies of self- awareness/knowledge and self-regulation. It is likely that the brain has evolved distinct mechanism for knowing ourselves, knowing how others respond to us, detecting threats from within the social group, and regulating actions in order to avoid being excluded from those groups (Krendl & Heatherton 2009).

Neuroscientists are elaborating on how the importance of image and the Selfies are considered as being one of our natural instincts to reduce anxiety shielding us against the fear of losing control of our minds and lives by preserving our sense of self and showing our image for the world to see as we want to be seen (Joshua Sariñana).

London neuroscientist James Kilner comments on the difference between viewing images of others and viewing images of ourselves. Viewing images and facial expressions allows us to interpret and respond emotionally and socially. Without looking at our own face we rely on our sensory nervous system through the movement of our face to determine what we are trying to convey to others. Surprisingly to us through the selfie we can recognize inaccuracies. Is this why we can sometimes “feel” misunderstood and the “selfie” may be in fact be a very powerful self-help tool when used correctly.

Weighing the importance of image is succinctly summarized by Mark R. Leary, Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience at Duke University “From a social psychological standpoint, the selfie phenomenon seems to stem from two basic human motives. The first is to attract attention from other people. Because people’s positive social outcomes in life require that others know them, people are motivated to get and maintain social attention. By posting selfies, people can keep themselves in other people’s minds. In addition, like all photographs that are posted on line, selfies are used to convey a particular impression of oneself. Through the clothes one wears, one’s expression, staging of the physical setting, and the style of the photo, people can convey a particular public image of themselves, presumably one that they think will garner social rewards.”
