Zumba has been around for a while now and although I didn't pick up on the craze from the beginning I decided to get into it now, since I love to dance and it didn't involve back-aching floor workouts. I have walked by a class before at the YMCA but it didn't seem as intense as I would want so I didn't bother. Until I looked at the class schedule to discover they have different levels of the class! After going on their website, www.zumba.com, I have found out they actually have a lot of different types of Zumba classes, which was very exciting, not to mention a whole clothing collection and tons of useful information! I saw that my YMCA offered a moderate Zumba class so I decided to attend.
I was so ready for the class, dressed in my new, and very stylish Zumba Wear clothing I felt the part...now the test was to see if I could fit the part! The instructor was a very outgoing and nice lady that looked totally in shape so I was excited to think that I could achieve my Zumba body by continuing the classes...but first I had to get through the first one. The music started and it was hits that play on the radio now so I immediately got into it. The steps were explained very well as we navigated through the first song. It was non-stop cardio fun, I felt like I was a backup dancer for a Britney Spears or Nicki Minaj concert. I've done hip hop dance classes before and loved them, so I instantly loved this Zumba class...even if it was way more intense!
I had on my Zumba Wear "Carpe the Hell Out of This Diem" t-shirt which was the most comfortable shirt to wear while sweating it out! The material was perfect and was loose to be able to allow me to move in all sorts ways for each dance. I also felt very fashionable which always helps build that self esteem up, especially in a workout class where your trying to learn dance steps and sweating your a** off! If you check out the website and all the clothing they offer (a ton) then you would know how hard it is to not want to buy everything, hah. I loved the styles and colors of the clothes, it fits the whole message behind Zumba, just have fun! Think of Zumba as a dance party and not a workout, which is really easy to do and you will burn calories (a lot) in a fun way. Not to say you won't get a workout, you will! It is hard and it's an hour long! I was looking at the clock on 30 minutes into thinking "it has to be an hour by now!" only to find out I still had a whole 30 minutes left to sweat, lol.
To sum it up Zumba made me feel good and it is very much worth the effort! I definitely will keep it up and I HIGHLY recommend you try it! They have different levels and intensities and you can always adjust any move to accommodate your level of fitness or work around any pre-existing injury you might have that physically limits you. The clothes are a HUGE plus when taking the clas, since they best know the level of movement and flexibility needed they make the clothes perfectly for it! I have the Zumba Wear Racerback Cosmic Blast in Orchard which is a nice color purple :) I will be adding on to my collection, the leggings look so cool! www.zumba.com
