Have you picked up a new makeup palette over the holidays or for Valentine's Day? Maybe you received one as a gift? There are so many options for a good makeup palette to choose from, so we have simplified your choices by putting together a few makeup looks for you to try! We created these looks using Too Faced Chocolate Bar and Semi Sweet Chocolate Bar eye shadow palettes, two amazing palettes we all love!!

As with any makeup look, you will want to always begin with a freshly cleansed & moisturized face. Before applying foundation, we recommend using a  makeup primer, as it helps to enhance your look and helps makeup stay in place longer. Looking for a new primer? We recommend Pür Minerals Correcting Primer - Illuminate and Glow. Not only will this help your foundation/makeup apply better, this primer will also give your skin an instant illuminating glow, helping to alleviate the appearance of  tired and dull skin. It also helps with the appearance of lines, wrinkles, and imperfections. After cleansing and moisturizing, apply to your skin, allow to absorb before applying your favorite foundation or mineral powders. We also highly recommend using a eye shadow primer as most primers will prevent your eye shadow from creasing & fading.

Mary Kay Clear proof system

If you struggle with acne and or are sick of fighting the occasional blemish, the Mary Kay Clear Proof Acne System is a great one to try. It includes Clear Proof Clarifying Cleansing Gel, Clear Proof Blemish Control Toner, Clear Proof Acne Treatment Gel, and Clear Proof oil free Moisturizer for acne prone skin. These products will help not only help clear up blemishes and unclog pores it will also fade the look of acne spots. For any one that has struggled with spots from acne that is a huge deal. The whole system is really nice. It is strong, they suggest starting off using the wash once a day and working up to using it twice a day which is what I did. They recommend that you use the clarifying cleansing gel, then the blemish control toner, then the acne treatment gel and then the moisturizer.  I like that it isn't too many steps it only takes a short amount of time to do this routine. I am always happy with a product that doesn't take long that works great.

Orogold body scrub

I have never tried Orogold products before but have thought that the concept is interesting. Sowhen I had the opportunity to try a few of them I was excited. Orogold’s 24k Golden Body Scrub is a unique body scrub that is infused with 24 karat gold as well as unique herbal extracts to help exfoliate the dead and dry skin leaving the body with an extraordinarily soft feel. This scrub removes a lot of dead skin especially if you haven’t exfoliated in a while it is pretty abrasive and gets the job done. To use it you just apply in a circular motion over wet skin and let it work its magic. My skin felt so amazing and soft and has stayed that way for days.

Too Faced cosmetics...oh how I love you...but I think my love has gone to obsession since I have been introduced to the Pretty Rebel Beauty Eye Shadow Palette

What a cool name for a palette...it's almost like an oxymoron if you think about it. The definition for Pretty: "Pleasing or attractive in a graceful or delicate way." While the definition for Rebel is : "To resist or defy an authority. To feel or express strong unwillingness." Delicate vs Strong. Pleasing vs Unwillingness! Crazy Cool, huh? This is a perfect description of how I like to represent myself and I can't think of any other eye shadow palette to know me so well, understand what it means to be a Pretty Rebel and also deliver the pretty & gritty beautifying results! My long quests of trial and error might actually be over! Shocking I know :)

Too Faced PrettyRebel Closed Certified Fabulous 7.17.13

The Too Faced: Pretty Rebel Eye Shadow Palette comes with an extraordinary range of 10 shadow shades:

  • Girly - a super cool hologram-like, two dimensional color that reflects green/brown tones. Beautifully edgey!
  • Charming - matte cocoa brown color
  • Dainty - light pinky/beige color
  • Gangsta - metallic medium brown color
  • Instigator - metallic gold! I'm wearing that one today :) I feel like Cleopatra, lol

  • Totally Fetch - bright metallic magenta color, VERY bold!
  • Ringleader - light metallic peach tone
  • Miss Sparkles - super sexy sparkly black. I wear this when I go out at night. It gives a very dramatic look...really pops light color eyes!

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Here is a PINK makeup look most anyone can pull off without looking clown-like or over the top! A pop of color is a fun, easy and quick way to spice up your daily makeup and turn boring to bold :) Here is how you get the look...

How to Wear Pink Makeup laura geller MAC too faced covergirl NYX MISSHA color beauty howto

How To Steps:

1) NYX: Retractable Eye Liner in Pink - Renowned for its extreme lasting power, this creamy liner delivers intense pigmentation and precise application in an easy, twist-up tube that never needs sharpening. If you don't mind lining your water-line, use this liner on your lower lash water- line. I love soft pencils because when I apply the liner it melts into my skin and leaves a beautiful line under my lower lashes as well as my water-line! NYX has beautiful colors and they are long lasting!

2) Too Faced: Pretty Rebel eye shadow palette - Bright, bold and true-to-color eyeshadows are in this palette and they last literally all day! When it comes to eyeshadow (for me) it has to be highly pigmented and stay fade and crease-proof! This is one of my very favorite eyeshadow palettes and I use all the colors, especially the Totally Fetch bright pink that is perfect for this pop of color look. You can use brushes to apply, but I find it best to use my pinky finger. Rub the tip of your finger in the shadow and while looking up get your finger under the lower lashes and sweep on. Using my finger applies the shadow thick so it's more pigmented and I can be more accurate with where I want it to go. I create a medium sized shadow sweep so it's noticeable. The shadow color Gangsta is applied all over the top lid. I love applying a neutral top color when doing this look.

Too Faced cosmetics has the answer in just two products!

Too Faced Lip Injection Color Bomb Certified Fabulous 7.19.13

 1) Lip Injection Color Bomb! Moisture Plumping Lip Tint in Eastwood RED, is red hot! It combines lip plumping, hydration and tinted color in one easy to use product :) Vitamins A, C and E and mango butter drench lips in moisture for a softer, smoother, plumper pout. The special fiery red color is inspired by actress Francesca Eastwood – who also created its signature name Eastwood Red (duh-hah).

“When looking for the perfect girl to represent our brand, I couldn’t think of anyone more quintessentially Too Faced than Francesca Eastwood,” says Jerrod Blandino, co-founder and Creative Director. “Her iconic beauty, love of makeup and amazing individual style are so in line with the Too Faced brand DNA. She’s bold, takes chances, and isn’t afraid to be herself. That’s everything we celebrate in women at Too Faced.”

I love the color on me, I think it would be a red tone that most anyone could pull off. It is a very creamy, lip balm feeling that gives great pigment and POPS those lips up with the lip injection plumping technology! Long lasting and comfortable all day long. What more could you ask for in a lip tint?

Too Face Summer Eyes 7.11.13I tend to tone down my eye make up in the summer for fear that it will melt off in the heat and humidity! But going out on summer nights, I still want to have a little fun ;) Too Faced Summer Eyes - Summer Sexy Shadow Collection allows me to do just that!

This collection comes with the essential summer colors and finishes in a resort-inspired theme. Rich, warm browns, with bright golds and oranges, combine with matte seashell, shimmery pink and mermaid green for the ultimate summer glamour! I love the variations of shimmer in the shadows; it allows you to really work with all the colors and combine them for great depth and dimension. My favorite aspect of the eye shadows is their vibrant color! The shadow that you place on your eye lids is exactly like the color in the palette, not a lighter imitation of it. These shadows go on bold and stay bold! I have never experienced such strong color in a powdered shadow, I usually only get this color on the first application with creme shadows. But Too Faced impressed me with this shadow collection! The "sunbeam" and "peach fuzz" are my favorite golds to use this summer. They create such a great vibrant, luxurious shimmer that really illuminates your eyes and will have you looking and feeling like a golden summer goddess! These colors, and your eyes, will not go unnoticed!

Another awesome aspect about this shadow collection is that it comes with an easy to follow "How-to Glamour Guide" that has its very own place in the shadow compact for easy access (tucked in front of the mirror). This guide features three looks: Day, Classic, and Fashion using all of the shadows in the collection. It's very easy to follow and shows you where to place each color around your eyes so that you can achieve the ultimate sexy summer eyes!

Summer beauty is all about that glowing look! We all want soft, silky, radiant skin! But for some of us pale ones, it can be a little harder to achieve the sun-kissed glowing confidence. That's where makeup comes in! I'll admit I don't use bronzer often; I feel that most of them look unnatural on my skin, but with the right type of face powder, I can have that radiant summer look in no time!

Too Faced Sweetheart Beads 7.16.13 bCertified FabulousWhen I first saw Too Faced's Sweetheart Beads Radiant Glow Face Powder I was very intrigued...not by the colors it contained, but how it was packaged. In a round, prettily decorated, container loosely sits heart shaped powder beads! Bronze, pink, natural, and golden beads! How do I use this? Was my first question...then does it work? What's the ultimate effect? Do I use the colors together? Separately? With a brush? Many questions followed as I had never seen this type of makeup before! I decided this would be best used with a brush, after all it is a powder. So I tried a blush brush - this was a little too weak to pick up the color. So next, I found that it works best with a brush that is a little firmer. I used a Chisel brush that I have for another powder foundation. Too Faced offers a few brushes on their website and tell you which one works best for the type of product you want to use, so if you need any brush suggestions, be sure to check out their site!

Since I didn't really know how to use this product, I looked it up. The product descriptions states that "the heart bead colors work together to create the perfect combination of color, coverage and glow for a healthy radiance." So I started by swirling my brush around all the beads. No need to be gentle with the brush, these beads don't crumble! You need a little firmness to pick up the color. I used this powder all around my face, focusing more on my cheeks. It creates a very light shimmery layer, which is nice for just a little hint of the desired summer glow. The shimmer really stands out when you catch the light! But it also can easily build up to a stronger glow by applying more powder. I like having this type of control with my makeup. I can build it up as much or as little as I like, depending on my mood. This powder is very easy to use (once I got past the bead shock), and it definitely gave my pale skin a much needed glowing enhancement, very much so the "healthy radiance" the product description states. I also liked how it was elegantly shimmery rather than sparkly. I did not want to look like I brushed pink sparkles all over my face! I was surprised by how much I like this product, how well it blended, how the colors work so well together, and how the effect was spot on with the description. This will be my go to makeup product on those bleak days when my skin needs more of a pick me up and a healthy glow boost!

Too Faced Sweetheart Beads Radiant Glow Face Powder retails at $32.00

Too Faced HighIf you want more of that bead glow, splurge with Guerlains Météorites Perles du Paradise at $70. These "legendary magic pearls illuminate your skin with a beautiful radiance" and work with any skin tone  I have used other products from Guerlain (Colour Laquer) and I absolutely love the quality and results.

Here in Maine we are having a dismal summer.  It rained 21 days in the month of June, and July is looking just as grim.  I am a true sun worshipper, which is difficult when living in a state where the days are short all winter, and the weather 5 months out of the year is so cold it makes it difficult to be scantily clad, baking out in the wondrous sun. I will admit, I love time in the tanning bed, but am extremely concerned with the aging effects the sun has on my skin. I usually use an SPF 30 on my face, especially when spending time in the tanning bed. So how to achieve the “all over” sun kissed glow (the face has to match the body), the answer is bronzer.  Not all bronzers are created alike, and some are downright orange, sparkly or otherwise just messy and gross. Too Faced Bronzed and Poreless Pore Perfecting Bronzer was given to me to test during beach week, and I loved, loved LOVED it!

Marie-Antoinette-Makeup

Throughout history, tanning has gone in and out of fashion. Using poisonous whiteners to create pale skin has been popular throughout history – particularly during the ancient Greek, Roman and Elizabethan eras. Women went to great lengths to preserve pallid skin, as a sign of their "refinement." In Western countries before the 1920s, dark skin was associated with serfdom and toiling in fields all day.  Women even went as far as to put lead-based cosmetics on their skin to artificially whiten their skin tone. However, when not strictly monitored these cosmetics caused lead poisoning. Light-skinned appearance was achieved in other ways, including the use of arsenic to whiten skin, and lightening powders. The preference for fair-skin continued until the end of the Victorian era.

Shortly thereafter, in the 1920s, fashion-designer Coco Chanel accidentally got sunburned while visiting the French Riviera. When she arrived home with a suntan, her fans apparently liked the look and started to adopt darker skin tones themselves. Tanned skin became a trend partly because of Coco’s status and the longing for her lifestyle by other members of society. The photographs of her disembarking in Cannes set a new precedent of beauty; her friend Prince Jean-Louis de Faucigny-Lucigne later said: "I think she may have invented sunbathing. At that time, she invented everything."

I love the way my skin looks when it is tan.  My complexion is clearer, and the cellulite on my butt and thighs is less noticeable.  However, that being said, there is no denying that frequent exposure to the sun leads to pre-mature aging.  My solution is to always wear an SPF, which definitely necessitates the use of a bronzer. I have my favorite, which took a moderate amount of time to find, so I was a little skeptical when given Too Faced Bronzed and Poreless. Some bronzers make your face orange like an Oopma Loompa. Or else they have so much shimmer and sparkle that they are only suitable for a night out at the club, not a day at the office.
