We have talked a lot recently about protecting your skin from the sun and heat but what about protecting your hair? Whether you are spending the day in the sun or using a heated tool to style your hair, protecting it should be on your mind. We all want to have our hair look amazing but in order to do that you need to keep it healthy. Not only can the sun and heat affect the color of your hair but it can make your hair brittle and cause split ends. When thinking of protection from the sun one of my go to brands is Sun Bum. This brand was created to provide high quality sun care products formulated for people who live and love in the sun. One of the Certified Fabulous Teams favorite UV protecting spray is Sun Bum Beach Formula Sea Spray.  This help texturize and add volume to your hair but it also is UV protecting. This is a lightweight formula that will give your hair just the right amount of volume with a matte finish hold and will instantly block out the humidity that causes frizz. This spray is easy to use, just spray on towel dried or damp hair, and comb evenly through here. Next style with your fingers for the perfect look.  The sea spray is enriched with ingredients like Hawaiian Black Lava Sea Salt, Sea Kelp and Seaweed. It will make your hair look effortlessly gorgeous. This sea spray is paraben free silicone free, alcohol free, cruelty free and made in the USA. If you are looking to get the perfect beach wave without having to hop into the cold ocean this is also a great product to use to give you the beautiful looking beach waves. You can find the Sun Bum Sea Spray for $14.99 at trustthebum.com.

Since Earth Day is next week (April 22nd) we dedicated this week to Natural and Organic beauty (in case you haven't noticed). From the time we started to learn more about how our actions have negative affects on our planet people have been figuring out how to less our carbon footprint (defined as "the total sets of greenhouse gas emissions caused by an organization, event, product or person).

"Natural" and "organic" are words that have been around for a long time, but caught on at first as a trendy thing and now I think it is evolving into a choice that people are making from being more informed. The use of the words, although a bit over used, basically lets us know that when we see the term "natural" it means ingredients are derived, in whole or in part, from natural sources with no synthetic compounds. "Organic" meaning ingredients are supposed to contain only plant-sourced ingredients that are cultivated without the use of synthetic chemicals, irradiation, or pesticides.

Label meanings when looking for natural or organics:

  • 100% Organic: Must contain 100 percent organically produced ingredients (excluding water and salt). This is the only label that guarantees a completely organic product. These products can carry the USDA Organic Seal.
  • Organic or Certified Organic: At least 95 percent of content is organic by weight (excluding water and salt). These products can carry the USDA Organic Seal.
  • Made with Organic Ingredients: At least 70 percent of content is organic. Front panel can say "Made with Organic" and list up to three specific ingredients. These products cannot carry the USDA Organic Seal.
  • Less Than 70% Organic: Can list only organic ingredients on ingredient panel, but not on front panel. These products cannot carry the USDA Organic Seal.
