Tips for tri-look ponytail:

1. Curl hair with a wide-barrel curling iron or opt for a straighter yet full pony by blow drying hair with a large round brush.

2. Slightly tease hair at the top of head to give the style some height.

3. On one side of the head create anywhere from 1-3 small braids, incorporating the hair along your scalp as you braid(similar to a French braid-style, you want the braids to be against your head). Secure each braid with a clear elastic to later be pulled into the pony.

4. Gather hair into pony with all of the braids in it and secure with a clear hair elastic.

Ponytails are a staple whether your hair is shorter or really long, there is a look for everyone one.

Short, Low Ponytail

With so many people chopping their long locks into textured shoulder length or above, bobs this year, the short low ponytail is a fashion staple.

  • Start with 'lived-in' hair as this will give you better control of your hair. You can add some texture powder or dry shampoo to create volume and texture to your hair so it doesn't look so flat to your head.
  • Create a low side or center part and gather tight into the nape. The key here is to keep it really low to be effective.
  • Let some stray pieces fall gently around your face or keep it smooth and sleek.

Style tips for pregnant women:

  •  Repeat the mantra: if you wouldn't wear it before you got pregnant don't wear it now! Stay true to your personal sense of style for the most confident pregnancy fashion.
  •  Loose/flowing styles are better in the first trimester before you are really showing, with styles getting tighter as you get bigger. The tighter styles later on actually make you look smaller because they accentuate your bump minimizing legs and arms.
  • Stripes are your friend - shocking but true! Just make sure they are approx 2" for the most flattering ratio.

 Style tips for Babies:

  •  Comfort is key. If your little one isn't comfortable they are not going to be happy. Unlike us they don't subscribe to the "as long as it looks good" philosophy! It needs to feel good too.
  •  Make sure there is always easy access to the diaper. No buttons instead of snaps please!
  •  Layers are important. There are many temperatures we go through during a day due to going outside and then inside into air-conditioned buildings. Make sure your baby is covered with an extra layer for the body, head and feet for colder

1) Reduce Your Routine and Pick the Perfect Brush

You know the drill: wash, rinse, repeat. However, cleansing hair too often can strip away the natural oils that keep it healthy, thus making hair more brittle and prone to breaking. Nick suggests reducing the number of times you shampoo your hair to 3-4 times a week. In between shampoos, soak up oil with a light coat of dry shampoo on your roots and use a boar bristle brush (Nick recommends a boar hair brush like a Mason Pearson brush) to distribute hair oils from root to tip for extra natural shine and conditioning.

2) Swap out Silicone Shampoos

We’ve all heard the golden rule of getting a salon trim every six weeks to keep your hair healthy, but it isn’t always that easy! Silicone-based shampoos can make your hair ultra-shiny, but they can also prevent vital oils from accessing your strands. To boost your hairs natural conditioning abilities, Nick suggests opting for a silicone-free shampoo such as Kerastase’s Bain Crystal line. It purifies roots, rebalances hair fibers, and leaves ends smooth and polished (sans trim!).

With the warm weather finally settling in, I'm sure you're getting ready for those summer nights out. Usually, this means you'll want a new outfit, or two... I love shopping just as much as the next girl, but I can't afford to shop as much as I would like. I like to get a new dressy number every once in a while; it makes your night out a tad bit more exciting. Wearing new clothes tends to have that effect... So luckily, I've been introduced to Ami Clubwear. This site has so many options for affordable & cute clothing, that you're bound to find something you like! And you'll like the price tag too.

There are plenty of club-worthy outfits on this site, but if the club isn't your thing, and you're just looking for a cute dress, don't shy away from this site. As I mentioned, there are so many styles, that you can find a dress for many occasions for this summer! Here are a couple dresses I tried and how you can style them this summer!

Ami Clubwear blue and white dress croppedI love this dress for nights out/summer parties! The accessory options are endless! Plus, chunky sandals heels are bound to make this a knockout outfit. Also, add a statement red necklace, and you have a stylish (not at all cheesy) fourth of July outfit!

This second dress is very pretty in pink. I would combine this with a soft pink heel (with this dress it will help elongate your legs!), and then add some edge with sharp angled earrings and a bold black clutch. Of course, a dark smoky eye will take this outfit up a notch and have you ready for trouble!

dress cropI wouldn't necessarily think I would find these two dresses on a site for "club wear" but that's one of the reasons I like AMI Club Wear! There are so many affordable styles on this site that I'm sure you'll find plenty of new options for this upcoming summer season!

This year when you prepare for prom night, don’t overdo it. A lot of the trends you will see this year err toward the sleek, simple and sophisticated. But while you are at it, there’s some important prom hair rules to keep in mind:

1. Take pictures early! You’ll look your most poised at the beginning of the night, before you’ve danced out your hair and sweated off your makeup!

2. “Prom dresses are less traditional, so your hair should be the same – no need to feel obligated to the traditional up-do. Explore the possibilities by adding braids (a few or many), colors, cutting or adding extensions to your locks. Have fun, explore hair magazines and websites to create your own style,” says Latoya Stuckey of Slique Hair Studio in Harlem, New York.

3. “If you wear a dress with lots of sparkle on it, you should wear your prom hair very simple. If you wear simple promdress, then go for a more elaborate hair style, maybe adding some hair jewelry,” says celebrity hairstylist Nelson Vercher. He knows — he has worked with; Jennifer Lopez, Kelly Rowland, Olivia Palermo, Kim Kardashian, Britney Spears, and they know a lot about sparkle!

4. “Comb your curls to get a more natural wave. Stay away from curling irons. Looks wet slicked hair could be combed into any style!” says Samira Eid, stylist at Cristophe Beverly Hills salon.
