So this week at Certified Fabulous we are talking about many wonderful products that take part in supporting Breast Cancer Awareness during the month of October. I've come across some new favorites this week and it's great to see so many awesome brands involved!
In support of Breast Cancer Awareness, Nails Inc. London has teamed up with Breast Cancer Campaign - a British breast cancer research charity. For every bottle of Pinkie Pink nail polish sold, Nails Inc. is donating $1 to the Breast Cancer Campaign. There are even more ways to get involved by participating "Paint Your Pinkie Pink" to show your support and possibly win a prize from nails inc! This awareness contest has just three easy steps:
1. Paint your pinkie pink using your nails inc. "Pinkie Pink" glitter polish
2. Take a photo of your pink pinkie!...
Summer is all about melt-proof makeup that stays put for hours and won't smudge throughout a long, hot day. I love my waterproof mascaras and lip stains for this reason but when it comes time to remove them at the end of the day - I face complications.
Most eye makeup removers sting and irritate my sensitive eyes but Smashbox’s new It’s A Wrap Waterproof Makeup Remover never causes my eyes to tear and gets rid of even the most stubborn long-wear makeup in a flash. I’ve found that many formulas fail to remove all my eye makeup. I’d go through three to four cotton rounds after a night out trying to remove my liquid liner and signature red lip. With It’s A Wrap, I soak one cotton round in the formula, hold it on my eye for a few seconds and whisk it all away.
What makes this remover different from it’s competitors? The ultra-lightweight formula contains two separate components that combine when shaken for optimum makeup removal. They mastered the non-irritating technology by testing it with ophthalmologists and dermatologists until it was perfected. Smashbox’s It’s A Wrap Waterproof Makeup Remover is a must-have in achieving a fresh, clean face after a long day of being glamorous.
It’s A Wrap Waterproof Makeup Remover is available for $20 at Smashbox.com, Sephora and Ulta stores....
Every season it's nice to freshen up your makeup variety to go with the trends of each season, but it is always necessary have a few basics that are your makeup bag constants. Smashbox has a variety of both trendy beauty and the basics, which I love! My makeup bags contains about 50% Smashbox products I use daily and I have never been disappointed by any of the products I have purchased or received for consideration to write about for this publication.
I have 3 faves in particular that I turn to for simple, day makeup for work or if I want to wear a bold lip and neutralize the rest of my makeup. I always start with a foundation primer! In the past I never used primers because I didn't see a purpose, but now there are a variety of them that can correct skin issues or hide flaws even before you apply foundation or concealer. Smashbox Photo Finish Color Correcting Foundation Primer is my #1 product I apply before any makeup! Green color is made to offset red, uneven tones in the skin's pigment so it can look even. It also helps to minimize pores and wrinkles for a smooth, flawless "canvas" to "paint" on :) It goes on silky with no greasy feeling at all, and the lightweight formula blend in easily. It also has the added benefit of antioxidants with vitamins A & E so your skin can maintain health while looking amazing.
Another Smashbox essential buy is the Love Me Eye Shadow Palette in Admire Me which is a nude palette for warm tones. It also comes in Entice Me which is a fashion palette for more dramatic, cool color tones. I adore the Admire Me because it has all of the basics one would need to create a nude eye that enhances the eyes way more effectively than just doing nothing at all. I always advise against doing nothing at all if you are a makeup person to begin with because what is the point of doing a whole foundation, flawless face look without accenting your facial features?? But that's just me :)
This palette is crucial to me because it perfectly gives me enough of all of the color which are broken up in a gorgeous design for the Love Me artwork created by NY graffiti artist Curtis Kulig. I love how the middle, designed piece can move up and down along with the cover to either help protect the shadows from mixing. I also found out it is great when dropped because even though my cover broke the Love Me design was intact and saved the shadow from breaking and becoming useless! Colors include: Champagne, Matte Nude, Soft Shimmering Coral, Bronze, Deep Golden Brown. I should also add that I do not like shimmer shadows but lately I have been drawn to the look of them and they have come a long way since I was in high school. Shimmers always seem so cheesy and immature to me, but once again my mind has been changed! The lesson would be to give makeup you once hated a second chance, hah....
We all want photo ready eyes, right? Bright, bold, clear, and noticeable! But with all the different types of mascaras out there, it can be overwhelming to know what type will suit your eyes. Curling, lengthening, volumzing, waterproof, etc...how does a girl choose?? Well, hopefully I can give you a little insight on a great mascara and help ease the selection process.
Smashbox’s Photo Op Eye Brightening Mascara is my new go-to mascara. This is a 3-in-1 mascara that curls, lifts, and brightens giving you that wide-eyed look you love! It has a blend of mica, titanium, and blue pigments to enhance the whites of your eyes and brighten to create that open-eyed effect. This mascara hit a number of marks for me, as I said, it’s my new go-to! I cannot stand mascara that smudges, flakes, clumps, or is too stubborn to take off at the end of a long day/night. But this Smashbox mascara was a much-needed relief from my mascara woes. It goes on clean (no clumps or flakes), really lengthens my lashes, and is long wearing but still comes off easily with makeup remover. It separated my lashes nicely, without clumping them together, and my lashes lifted up well for that wide-eyed look. A great tip from Smashbox: Always apply to the top AND bottom lashes for a totally wide-eyed look. This really made a difference for me, so keep it in mind!
At $20.00 Smashbox Photo Op Eye Brightening Mascara will continue to be a staple in my makeup bag!
But if you're looking for a good save option, check out CoverGirl Exact EyeLights Mascara designed to bring out the color of your eyes with clump free lashes. I usually like CoverGirl's mascaras so this would be a good one to try! You can find CoverGirl Exact Eyelights Mascara for $8.17 on Amazon...
I have a nice full set of lips, but never really wear lipstick. I love a nice gloss, or a nice chapstick, but when it comes to my lips, I prefer more function (soothing moisturization) to color. Then I was given Smashbox’s Be legendary Lipstick in Primrose, and I am now a lipstick lover after receiving so many compliments on my pretty pout.
As modern civilizations started to make rapid advances in technology and chemistry, the first manmade lipstick appeared as a cosmetic tool for the wealthy women and men of ancient Mesopotamia, Indus Valley Region and Egypt. Egypt especially managed to advance the art of lipstick making, managing to produce bright red carmine lipstick that are made from cochineal insect pigments, which is a timeless technique that is in use even today. Those lipsticks were made from powdered and processed bodies of cochineal insects or purple extracts of seaweed, mixed with various oils and waxes. History books will forever remember various important Egyptian figures that were depicted in their hydrographic images with various cosmetic enhancements – Nefertiti’s black eyeliner or Cleopatra’s bright red lips. Thankfully today there are rules against using insect parts in our skincare and makeup. The thought of smearing bug guts on my mouth is enough to make me retch.
Be Legendary Lipstick in Primrose is the perfect daily wear lipstick. The color is neutral, but bright enough to be worn for day or night. Primrose can be described as a neutral dusty rose shade, with more pinks than reds or oranges. I have a more olive skin tone, so pinks work well on me. This lipstick applies smoothly, and does not feel slimy or greasy like some others. It has amazing staying power. The night I wore it out for the first time I was quite liberal with my kisses, and managed to not smear anyone’s cheek or clothing. I got plenty of compliments on the shade, which is always the best indicator for how well a color looks on ones face. I truly love this lipstick and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good neutral shade that works well with any look, day or night.
