I remember the first time I saw Philosophy products at a Sephora. It was a number of years ago, and I remember being drawn to the sophisticated simplicity of the packaging. When you pick up a box or a bottle, you are met with a fun and quirky Philosophy saying, and you can’t help but buy what they have to sell. Philosophy just keeps getting better and better, and I had the opportunity to try out, and of course love a few of what they have to offer.
It’s no secret I love to exfoliate. I don’t wear make-up on a regular basis because of the build-up it leaves on my skin. Unfortunately for me, I have had to play “grown-up” a lot in the past month, which means attending work functions and meetings more than usual. Of course this means I have to fix my hair, wear outfits that don’t consist of hoody sweatshirts and leggings, and of course, apply a full face of makeup so that my expression is not one of tired negativity (it’s not my fault, even when I’m not tired, or grouchy, I’ve reached the age where I look WAAAY better with a full face). With all of this makeup wearing, I’m finding myself yearning to exfoliate daily, which can be a problem as most facial scrubs are not gentle enough to be used every day.
Philosophy Micro-Delivery Exfoliating Wash is the perfect scrub for a gal like me, who must remove every single vestige of makeup in order to really feel as though my skin is clean. This scrub fits the bill. Made with diametaceous earth, my absolute favorite physical exfoliator because the particles are fine, and the earth is a natural product. Diametaceous earth is a winner because although it does a wonderful job with is fine particles of scrubby buts, it is gentle on skin and feels amazing. This scrub also contains fine natural ingredients such as Apple Amino Acids, Borage Seed Oil and Vitamin E, all of which nourishes and moisturizes the skin, while providing antioxidant benefits. I love this scrub because it is effective, yet gentle enough to use every day, helping remove dirt and makeup.
Philosophy also offers a really cool shave gel called Razor Sharp. Razor Sharp is a really pretty blue shave gel in a Philosophy-esque cool, simple clear bottle. The “philosophy” as read on the front of the bottle is quirky and fun “looking razor sharp isn’t as important as being razor sharp. We are bombarded with information regarding the importance of working out in order to keep ourselves looking and feeling our best. Only when we “work in” do things actually begin to work out”.
Razor Sharp contains soothing botanical blends, skin conditioning agents and can be used by both men and women (shhh, I have not had the “opportunity” to share yet). I love the way this shave gel smells, clean and soapy, and quite frankly, masculine. It brings me back to the days when I first started shaving my legs (I was 14, and really had no business shaving my legs, but what can you do). I would sneak my dad’s Barbasol shave cream into the shower. Razor Sharp is the high end version of Barbasol, but the clean masculine scent in the shower, whilst shaving my legs (now it should be my business more often than it is I’m ashamed to say). This is a great shave gel, however, and although it is not recommended for sensitive skin (I’m moderately sensitive), my experience was one of smooth, nourished legs after using Razor Sharp.
