This Summer my husband and I went on a road trip from Maine to Georgia for my brother's wedding. It took us 26 hours total to get from one end of the eastern coast to the other (thanks to stops, traffic, and diverting from course to see the Chesapeake Bay Bridge). I've found when I tell people that we decided to drive instead of fly, I get reactions of disgust and sympathy. But I have no idea why, it was amazing!

We love road trips and we try to take one every other summer. So why do so many people think of a road trip with dread? Well, my theory is that it's because they aren't preparing the right way (also the fact that we don't have kids yet may help...). Make sure you have your GPS and charger (if you have one), your maps (yes, even if you have the GPS as well). Always make sure to have a good old fashioned atlas in the backseat (just in case), a first aid kit, snacks, water, and good music. I also always splurge for a good audio book to help me drive through the night.

But while all that is necessary, you need to ensure you can remain comfortably locked in a moving metal cage for hours (or days) on end. Here is my beauty product checklist to make you comfortable throughout the trip:

1. La Roche-Posay Thermal Water. This soothing water is a fine mist spray that's perfect for La Roche Posay thermal spray waterrefreshing your face at rest areas or when stopping for food. It tones and refreshes skin, perfect for after spending hours in the car. It's like a cleanser, toner, and moisturizer in a super quick spray!

Bath and Body Works PocketBacs2. Bath & Body Works PocketBac Hand Sanitizers. Not surprisingly, on the road means a limited supply of sinks and hand soap. I'm sure I don't need to convince you of the importance of hand sanitizer however, let me recommend Bath & Body Works mini PocketBacs! They smell great, come in super convenient sizes, and they're cheap! I had one in my purse, my suitcase, my car, my pocket, everywhere.

La Roche Posay Cleansing Gel 7.5.13 Certified Fabulous

La Roche Posay Ultra Fine Scrub and Cleansing Gel 7.5.13 Certified FabulousWe all know how important it is to use sunscreen while spending the day at the beach but it’s also important to prepare our skin first with gentle cleansers and/or scrubs. I love La Roche-Posay Physiological Ultra-Fine Scrub & Cleansing Gel. The scrub, for
sensitive skin, is formulated with a chemical exfoliant that boosts surface-cell turnover while maintaining balance. It contains Poloxamer, which is a mild cleansing agent but effective in removing impurities. It deeply cleanses and smoothes skin leaving it soft and subtle. $17.99

For a gentler cleanser, try Physiological Cleansing Gel. Also made with Poloxamer, this gel texture has a cooling effect without causing dryness, $21.99. Physiological products are soap-free, alcohol-free, paraben-free and safe for sensitive skin.
