Too Faced – COCOAFILTER Set

I just love Too Faced; and I love Chocolate. I just had the pleasure of trying their Cocoafilter kit

It has the - Tinted Beauty Balm SPF20, Cocoa Powder Foundation, Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer and Retractable Kabuki Brush

I’ll start with the Cocoa Powder Foundation this is a wonderful lightweight powdery foundation it will leave your skin feeling silky soft with a matte finish. My skin which is normally dry felt wonderful after applying this foundation.

It gave me great coverage not too heavy or too light it was just perfect. Ii used it 2 different ways with the sponge pad encased in the compact and then the kabuki brush. The brush gave me a slightly lighter coverage.

Summer beauty is all about that glowing look! We all want soft, silky, radiant skin! But for some of us pale ones, it can be a little harder to achieve the sun-kissed glowing confidence. That's where makeup comes in! I'll admit I don't use bronzer often; I feel that most of them look unnatural on my skin, but with the right type of face powder, I can have that radiant summer look in no time!

Too Faced Sweetheart Beads 7.16.13 bCertified FabulousWhen I first saw Too Faced's Sweetheart Beads Radiant Glow Face Powder I was very intrigued...not by the colors it contained, but how it was packaged. In a round, prettily decorated, container loosely sits heart shaped powder beads! Bronze, pink, natural, and golden beads! How do I use this? Was my first question...then does it work? What's the ultimate effect? Do I use the colors together? Separately? With a brush? Many questions followed as I had never seen this type of makeup before! I decided this would be best used with a brush, after all it is a powder. So I tried a blush brush - this was a little too weak to pick up the color. So next, I found that it works best with a brush that is a little firmer. I used a Chisel brush that I have for another powder foundation. Too Faced offers a few brushes on their website and tell you which one works best for the type of product you want to use, so if you need any brush suggestions, be sure to check out their site!

Since I didn't really know how to use this product, I looked it up. The product descriptions states that "the heart bead colors work together to create the perfect combination of color, coverage and glow for a healthy radiance." So I started by swirling my brush around all the beads. No need to be gentle with the brush, these beads don't crumble! You need a little firmness to pick up the color. I used this powder all around my face, focusing more on my cheeks. It creates a very light shimmery layer, which is nice for just a little hint of the desired summer glow. The shimmer really stands out when you catch the light! But it also can easily build up to a stronger glow by applying more powder. I like having this type of control with my makeup. I can build it up as much or as little as I like, depending on my mood. This powder is very easy to use (once I got past the bead shock), and it definitely gave my pale skin a much needed glowing enhancement, very much so the "healthy radiance" the product description states. I also liked how it was elegantly shimmery rather than sparkly. I did not want to look like I brushed pink sparkles all over my face! I was surprised by how much I like this product, how well it blended, how the colors work so well together, and how the effect was spot on with the description. This will be my go to makeup product on those bleak days when my skin needs more of a pick me up and a healthy glow boost!

Too Faced Sweetheart Beads Radiant Glow Face Powder retails at $32.00

Too Faced HighIf you want more of that bead glow, splurge with Guerlains Météorites Perles du Paradise at $70. These "legendary magic pearls illuminate your skin with a beautiful radiance" and work with any skin tone  I have used other products from Guerlain (Colour Laquer) and I absolutely love the quality and results.

Here in Maine we are having a dismal summer.  It rained 21 days in the month of June, and July is looking just as grim.  I am a true sun worshipper, which is difficult when living in a state where the days are short all winter, and the weather 5 months out of the year is so cold it makes it difficult to be scantily clad, baking out in the wondrous sun. I will admit, I love time in the tanning bed, but am extremely concerned with the aging effects the sun has on my skin. I usually use an SPF 30 on my face, especially when spending time in the tanning bed. So how to achieve the “all over” sun kissed glow (the face has to match the body), the answer is bronzer.  Not all bronzers are created alike, and some are downright orange, sparkly or otherwise just messy and gross. Too Faced Bronzed and Poreless Pore Perfecting Bronzer was given to me to test during beach week, and I loved, loved LOVED it!

Marie-Antoinette-Makeup

Throughout history, tanning has gone in and out of fashion. Using poisonous whiteners to create pale skin has been popular throughout history – particularly during the ancient Greek, Roman and Elizabethan eras. Women went to great lengths to preserve pallid skin, as a sign of their "refinement." In Western countries before the 1920s, dark skin was associated with serfdom and toiling in fields all day.  Women even went as far as to put lead-based cosmetics on their skin to artificially whiten their skin tone. However, when not strictly monitored these cosmetics caused lead poisoning. Light-skinned appearance was achieved in other ways, including the use of arsenic to whiten skin, and lightening powders. The preference for fair-skin continued until the end of the Victorian era.

Shortly thereafter, in the 1920s, fashion-designer Coco Chanel accidentally got sunburned while visiting the French Riviera. When she arrived home with a suntan, her fans apparently liked the look and started to adopt darker skin tones themselves. Tanned skin became a trend partly because of Coco’s status and the longing for her lifestyle by other members of society. The photographs of her disembarking in Cannes set a new precedent of beauty; her friend Prince Jean-Louis de Faucigny-Lucigne later said: "I think she may have invented sunbathing. At that time, she invented everything."

I love the way my skin looks when it is tan.  My complexion is clearer, and the cellulite on my butt and thighs is less noticeable.  However, that being said, there is no denying that frequent exposure to the sun leads to pre-mature aging.  My solution is to always wear an SPF, which definitely necessitates the use of a bronzer. I have my favorite, which took a moderate amount of time to find, so I was a little skeptical when given Too Faced Bronzed and Poreless. Some bronzers make your face orange like an Oopma Loompa. Or else they have so much shimmer and sparkle that they are only suitable for a night out at the club, not a day at the office.
