Beauty & Skin Expert Gregorie Guillaume Breaks Down the Difference between Body Potions & Lotions and Shares her Selects for the Season

New season. New body care regimen. Do yourself and your body a favor this season and add body oils to the mix to get even softer skin from SKINN Cosmetics, Whish, Caldrea and Viktor&Rolf. As creatures of habit, stepping out of the shower and reaching for that tried and true body lotion is what we know.

Body Oils vs. Body Lotions

Before you make the decision to switch or even add a body oil to your regimen, let's first understand what the difference is between the two product types. Body oils moisturize the top layer of the skin, keeping moisture trapped in while not penetrating the skin. Body lotions are made with skin-softening ingredients like aloe vera, shea butter and Vitamins D & E to penetrate and hydrate the skin.
Now you've got the facts - whatcha gonna do? I'm a lotion and oil kind of girl myself.

Weleda's Lavender Relaxing Body Oil has become my before bedtime ritual. The calming scent helps soothe a tired body and spirit after a long day. The relaxing blend helps restore skin's natural moisture barrier to soften skin, replace essential oils and melt away the stresses of your day.

Weleda Lavender Relaxing Body Oil 8.1.13This tension-taming oil is rich with organic lavender oil, known for its balancing and soothing fragrance, and known to help you fall asleep. The scent brings me back to being a child as many of the products my mother used during my bath time were infused with Lavender. Sweet almond and sesame seed oils are also infused into the product. The oil absorbs quickly into the skin so your pillow and sheets will not be stained with any excess residue. After continued use, I saw a noticeable difference is my skin's moisture levels and softness. Additionally, the scent truly brings me peace of mind and relaxation which is vital to a NYC girl!

Each evening, I massage a small amount into my skin after a shower. After massaging the oil into my skin in a circular motion, I am ready for a restorative sleep. The next morning I awaken to soft, beautiful skin and I'm convinced I'm getting a better night's sleep as a result of it.

What I love most about Weleda is that when they say "all natural" they mean all natural. Their products are free of synthetic preservatives, fragrances and chemicals. You never have to worry about toxins, additives or raw materials from mineral oils being included. The brand uses the purest wild-crafted, organically and Biodynamically cultivated ingredients. To ensure their ingredients maintain their innate potency, they harvest them quickly and then process them as little as possible, taking excellent care of them along the way. The brand is 100% certified natural and is now 100% certified fabulous!

Orico London

PURE LIFT Face Firming Elixir - Future Organics

Orico London Pure Life Face Firming Elixir 6.27.13 Certified FabulousThis serum was really nice; I used it on dry as well as on dampened skin.

I applied a small amount on my dry clean face using gently upward strokes. After a few moments I feel a slight firming as well as moisturizing effect. My skin felt like satin and definitely had a smoother appearance.

I also tried it on damp clean skin. Usually after a shower my skin feels tight and dry, while still damp I massaged a few drops and it immediately felt smoother and hydrated. The citrus scent is amazing I would definitely recommend this product.

Orico recommends: A little goes a long way. Dab fingertip amounts of Pure Uplift Face Firming Elixir over damp, freshly cleansed skin and gently massage until absorbed.
Chin up. Apply Pure Uplift Face Firming Elixir upwards over the chin area.

The blend of ingredients includes some of the following; Millet Seed Extract, Sweet Almond Oil, Orange Fruit Water, Tangerine Peel Oil, Sweet Orange Peel Oil,  Moringa Extract, Carrageenan Extract, Tannic Acid and Citric Acid
