Powder or Spray...How Do You Fake Clean Your Hair?

Okay, we all know dry shampoo is one of the best inventions (in a long time) to be introduced to the beauty world. We are now free to accept last minute invitations and social events without fear of having unwashed hair! Of course it's a fake hair "washing," but nonetheless a social beauty lifesaver! Not to mention the jump start of volume it gives you, pumping our day-at-the-beach hair from flat to sexy in seconds! As it has been increasingly popular, we are now given a choice of powder or aerosol spray. So, what is the difference?

Not Your Mothers Girl Powder 7.25.13

If your hair is more on the thin side you'd benefit most with the powder option because it is applied right to your roots and gives instant volume as it immediately absorbs the oil at the root of the hair. Not Your Mother's: Girl Powder is a perfect option to achieve high volume hair quickly and effectively! The scent is amazing and your greaser hair look will vanish in seconds making you look like you just stepped out of the salon when you really were cleaning the house all day. Try and find any traces of oil after applying this...you won't find any! Oily hair people will want to be all over this one! I have come to find out that it is the best product for my short hair, as it gives me a chance to give my look a more "bed-head" / "wash & go" type of careless look. The effortless posh look as I like to call it :) This is also the better option for hot climates / summer travel as it is smaller and isn't in an air compressed can that can explode if exposed to high heat!

To use a powder product, it's always best to start with less and build as you need more. You can't take away powder from your hair and you can easily make yourself look dusty and aged if you over do it! I recommend you take a few shakes into the palm of your hands and rub your hands together then rub into the roots. If I'm lazy about it I will shake the powder direct into my roots and massage in...make sure you have used the product a few times before attempting a pro move like that though.

Not Your Mothers Dry Shampoo 7.25.13

The aerosol dry shampoo can be used on any hair type but I find it best for hair that is thick and doesn't have to be washed daily. Benefits of the spray option is that it is definitely easier to use and not as messy. Not Your Mother's: Clean Freak is ideal for in-between shampooing and helps your hair stay fresh so you can still have clean and styled hair without washing it everyday, which will dry it out! This product is my daily or every other day go-to dry shampoo and it maintain my hair flawlessly and helps me keep my hair in line when I want it to look kept up and put together.

To apply this product I simply part my hair to expose the roots and spray a few inches away from my head to hit the roots. I then massage it in and maneuver the hair to set the way I want for the day. Like I mentioned above, this can be a great daily and travel product just as long as you don't store it in a hot and heated location since it might burst under pressure! Be cautious on that!

Either way I am a fan of both powder and aerosol dry shampoos, no more ponytails or bobby pin craziness to get dirty, greasy hair out of your face. No more drowned rat, bad hair days! Dry shampoo is the remedy for it all and Not Your Mother's is a brand I trust for my luscious locks :)
