Are You a New Age Hippie? This Growing Trend Won't Fade Away!
When we hear the word hippie we tend to think of the people in the 1960's that had long hair, protested, and were obsessively into living a naturalist, environment friendly lifestyle. The surprising part is that those outcasts of that generation were way ahead of their time because now natural and organic living is a huge part of the norm in today's society. We may have shorter haircuts, shaved legs and prefer to wear shoes now, but us health conscious, earth friendly shoppers are considered a new age hippie! The once taboo title of granola-crunchy hippie is now a compliment more than an insult. More and more consumers are learning about the health benefits of natural and organic eating and now that frame of mind is expanding out to our skincare. People are educating themselves and reading labels to ensure they maintain health on the inside...and out.
Weleda is one company maintaining their 100% certified natural claim since they started in 1921. They have very clear standards for their products:
- No synthetic preservatives
- No synthetic fragrances
- No synthetic chemicals
- No synthetic anything
It's that simple...and when they say "all natural" they mean all natural!
"It all goes back to 1921 and something called anthroposophy. This movement, stemming from the teachings of philosopher Dr. Rudolf Steiner, encourages the individual to see his or her body, mind and spirit as intrinsically linked to our world; all part of one holistic system.
And so Steiner, along with Dr. Ita Wegman, got together with a team of dedicated scientists and doctors to determine just how they might use this philosophy to take care of their patients’ needs. They understood that a human body has a remarkable ability to heal itself, but sometimes it needs a little help. So they developed a personal approach to health care using natural ingredients that can holistically work with and support our own body’s healing tendencies.
They started by creating one of the world’s first Biodynamic® gardens to grow what they needed. Sound new agey? It’s actually old agey—what cultures around the world have done successfully for generations.
It was successful for our founders too.
Patients were healed, wellness and balance were restored to them, and never once was a synthetic chemical or lab-made preservative used in the process.
A company that cares so much about using only the finest, natural grown, pure ingredients to produce natural products that help people achieve natural beauty safely is a true diamond in the rough. Not only have they stood by organics before they were a popular trend, but they maintain their integrity and standards and have never wavered. A loyal and dedicated brand that has a strong following of consumers that remain loyal to their products is a great achievement considering all of the product choices we are given on a daily basis.
I had the pleasure of experiencing Weleda's Wild Rose Deodorant and at first I was not looking forward to using a natural oils based spray deodorant. I didn't think it would work like my normal stick. This was outside of my comfort zone and my normal routine, so I was skeptical. In the end I am SO thrilled I actually took a chance and tried something new because it completely proved me wrong! With the first trial my mind was immediately changed and I vowed I would only use Weleda's deodorants! If a product can change a stubborn mind on the first try...I'm sold! First impressions are everything, right?
I was amazed how well it worked! Organic rose leaf extract has mildly astringent properties that refresh and tone your skin while cleansing away impurities. With no risky antiperspirants such as aluminum salts, your body’s natural detoxification process is supported while bacteria that cause unpleasant odors are neutralized! Each spray gives a burst of rose aroma and is such a feminine feeling. If your not a rose fan (why not?! hah) they also offer the deodorant in sage and one in citrus, which is actually a favorite of Amanda Seyfried!
I also grabbed their Everon Lip Balm to test out as well since I have been wanting to try a new lip balm. I LOVED the scent of this one! It felt so smooth when applied and lasted quite a while which was a plus. My lips had the perfect amount of sheen, in-between a matte and a gloss :) I have this right by my computer screen here at the office so I obsessively apply this throughout the day.
Weleda is a brand that has come up so many times and I don't know why it took me so long to experience the natural beauty of this brand...I love everything about them and my experience so I will have to see what other products I can get into ;)
How do you feel about natural and organic products?
Until next time...Keep On Being Beautiful You!
