Everyone likes to make a bold statement when it comes to makeup and style, but in the summer that seems hard to do without looking too made-up or over-the-top. To lighten your makeup look and still add in some flair I found 5 ways to help one feature stand out the most! There are more ways, of course, but these are the most understated looks in my opinion :) The key is to choose ONE from the five...don't over do it, less is more, especially in the summer. What's your favorite?

Bold Beauty Basics - summer -certified fabulous - GLAM GLOW

Get glowing! Liquid illuminizers are great to wear alone or you can mix it into your favorite foundation, BB cream, CC Cream or tinted moisturizer. A little goes a long way, so don't over do it (especially if you have oily skin) or it could look like you have a sweat problem! One pump should be fine. Also make sure your using the correct tone, if you have fair/ light skin tick to the white/ pink tones like JOSIE MARAN Argan Illuminizer. If you have medium/ tan skin  you can go for the golds and bronze tones, like Gerard Cosmetics BB Plus Illumination. Same for illuminating/ highlighting  powders.

Bold Beauty Basics - summer -certified fabulous -BROWS

Brave Bold Brows! I personally like the soft pencil because it can mold easily in-between my brow hairs and I have more control and consistency. Powders can give a less abrasive and sharpe look and you can always build upon the coverage until you like it.

Bold Beauty Basics - summer -certified fabulous - EYELINER

Easy Eyeliner Eyes! You don't want to spend too much time on eye makeup in the summer, so it helps to have a Liquid BFF that is easy to use and gives precise accuracy so you spend less time re-doing or fixing mistakes. If you don't wear foundation, I suggest applying either an eye primer or any concealer to the lid before applying eye makeup to ensure you have even skin tone and a longer lasting application. For an extra touch that is subtle and won't draw attention away from your eyeliner, I like applying a sheer or shimmer shadow all over my lid. I like to have a bit of dimension to compliment my eyeliner. I love the bottom winged liner look, sadly it's rare so rock it out like you invented it! hah. Of course who doesn't love a classic top wing too, keep it tamed for a simple summer style.

Bold Beauty Basics - summer -certified fabulous - METALLIC SHAODW

Shine Bright Like a Diamond! Especially with these metallic eye shadows. You've grown up and now graduated from the glitter and sparkles to the upgraded version of metallics! They looks gorgeous and make eyes pop. You can make it as dark or light as you want and can even wet the shadows for more pigment! You have so much versatility and freedom with metallic shadows which makes it easy to use for any occasion to brighten eyes during the day or create a dramatic effect for the night.

Lastly, Love Your Lashes! Work your eyelashes overtime, without doing too much, but still get a false lash look...with your real lashes! I discovered the amazing power of Fiber Lashes, which builds upon your own lashes without the glue mess or worry about fake ones falling off. Simply take your favorite mascara (I love the Mary Kay Ultimate Mascara) and then apply the Younique Transplanting Gel, followed quickly by the Younique Natural Fibers and then another coat of the Transplanting Gel to seal it in...hello sexy lashes!!! It suggests (and I agree) to do one eye at a time since you have to work semi-quickly before the gel dries. I LOVE the look of my lashes with the fibers on and I can wear them even with my contacts in, win/win! Get your own at
